knocking noise

Featured Replies

Hi I hope someone can help point me in the right direction of a strange knocking noise from my Mums Yaris

It a metallic noise from the front near- side of the vehicle. It occurs when the car goes over poorly surfaced roads and bumps.

The following parts have been replaced (under warranty):

Anti roll bar bushes..

Shocks and mounts.

But the problem still was apparent.

Then the nearside wheel bearing was replaced and the noise disappeared for a month.

It’s back again and so the car went to the garage again, I said that the wheel bearing was at fault again but they said that this is ok. (Car passed MOT last week).

I am at a loss what the problem could be. Brakes and pads are fine etc.

Could it be the bearing again knocking slightly against the hub. There is no play in the wheel itself. The lower wishbones have not been replaced.

I have a feeling that the suspension had had a knock and maybe this is putting undue stress on the bearing thus causing it to fail so soon. There is no whining noise and over smooth surfaces the car is silent.

Hope someone can help

Thanks in advance
