RE cambelt change and water pump etc around birmingham/cov area and advice please

Featured Replies

Hi all, ive read the sticky re the importance of a cambelt change(wish i knew before i hit the 80K miles mark the other day) i got a quote of 390 pounds(cant get pound sign on slovak keyboard) inc labour from a local skoda approved garage for cambelt, water pump and rollers(are rollers same as tensioner:confused:) Is this a little expensive, i think i saw some people getting around the 280-300pound mark

I would appreciate any help/advice as my mechanical knowledge is not too great

i have an octavia vrs 2001 with 80K on the clock and re-mapped to 220(hopefully after my service will feel like 220bhp again) if anyone knows of a reputable garage within 30 miles of Tamworth, Staffs i would be grateful.last garage i used charged me 100 for the indicator stalk and still didnt work, ordered new hazard relay and hey presto...is this common?

last thing:D would it benefit me to buy the cam belt kit for the garage to fit?

many thanks and wish me luck with my 1300mile drive home next week:eek:, mike

Contact Unit18, a sponsor of our site. They are not to far away from you (just north of Bedford), and will do the whole job including supplying the kit for a very good price.
