coilovers budget or premium?

Featured Replies

Hi guys looking to purchase some coliovers dont no whether to spend out on kw V1's or to just go with ap, or weitecs tried searching but not much joy, so what do you reckon is the best bet?

cheers tim

It depends on your budget mate, if you can afford the KW's then go for them as you never hear any bad reports, personally I'm going for the Weitecs as, for my needs, they are the best value for money option.

We have fitted quite a few AP`s with no issues

Fabia one we have sold a few and had no issues either

KW , Weitec and AP`s all come under the same umbrella , so no issues with either of them ;)

what are the main differences then apart from price different internals etc?

KW are stainless steel?

The others aren't so will suffer more external corrosion.

Bilstein are the best premium coilovers. Lifetime warranty too.

Spotted These JOM Redline coilovers whilst trawling through all the options. Cheaper than AP Coilovers. Probably for a reason.

kw all the way,and after a few years when they start to weep oil(all of them will eventually) send them back to kw and they will refurb them free, lifetime gaurentee you see:Dplus they ride better than most others and if its performance you want there is next to nothing out there to match kw,they are worth every penny

i have AP at the moment and would seriously consider upgrading to KWs. the KW's are stainless steel whereas the cheaper version AP are only galvanised! i've greased them and would say i've looked after them quite well and even tho they still are adjustable since they have been on since xmas but there already starting to corrode and just generally dont feel as stiff as they were and becoming quite "springy" and im starting to notice more bodyroll even with the anti roll bar, gonna get the console bushs done soon to try and stop this but dont think it'll do much!

like they say tho, you get what you pay for!

I had cheap ones on my first Octavia, both front springs snapped after a year on the car.

Spend the extra (if you can afford to).

Saying that, you cant argue that the AP's are good value, and proven to work well on the Fabia.
