Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Vs Athlon 64 X2 4050 e Whats the difference

Featured Replies

As the title says what is the difference between these chips I have just got my son a AMD Athlon 64 x2 4050e chip and have noticed that the one in our downstairs computer is the AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+ chip.

I was thinking about what is the better chip and why? I messed up thinking that the 4050e chip was the same as the 4000+.just glanced at the logo :rotz:

More worried about performance as he will be playing online games (runscape etc) Thanks guys

The performance of the chip is the same, the only difference is power consumption. The e chips use a lot less power, hence you can get away with a more efficent power supply.

Far more important things affect gameplay in modern PC's, you can use a comparitivly slow CPU as long as you have a good quality expensive graphics card to take the processing load off the CPU.

Thanks I thought the 4050e would of lacked performance compared to the amd 4000+ glad they are the same
