hey looking at a octy cr170 with a dsg box, but i know i will be chipping it not long after buying it. so i was wondering would the DSG be able to handle the large amount of torque that a chipped octy tdi would put on it?

heard rumours of the DSG not being able to handle vast amounts of torque?

is this true, is there anyone with a chipped tdi with dsg thats has experiance.

I've heard of a 350bhp+ Mk5 Golf with DSG.

yh. wasnt to sure because the new TT-Rs isnt available with a DSG as that has to much torque of

340ftlbs? thought a chipped octy tdi vrs would be not that far away from this.

The 'wet' 6 speed DSG can handle a maximum of 350Nm whereas with the newer 'dry' 7 speed DSG it is 250Nm. - the 1.8 TSi. and 1.4TSi twincharger are both at this threshold.

so thats a no the DSG cant handle torque as the CR 170 tdi is 350Nm standard?

as superchips claim a gain of 59Nm which means torque is 409Nm / 301lbft

so to chip the VRS i need a manual?

Hi, I have a remapped PD140 DSG, the tuner claims close on 400nm but I have never had it on a RR. I have 250,000kms on the car, it had a DMF replaced under warranty at 130,000kms which I believe is not unusual otherwise the box is trouble free and the car is mapped from new. The CR170 has a smoother more progressive power delivery than the PD engines so this might make it slightly kinder on the gearbox. I wouldn't be at all worried about it and when I do order my next Skoda it will have the CR170/DSG engine gearbox combination and will be brought straight to a tuner !

Well, I'm having mine done. It's a 170bhp with dsg. I checked it out with Will at P torque. He said it should be fine.
