About to buy a Fabia

Featured Replies

Hello from Berkshire. I currently own a Honda Jazz and am in the process of changing to a Skoda Fabia, so I thought I'd join the forum. I've had a look at the model discussion forums and there doesn't seem to be one for the Fabia III which is what I am thinking of getting. Do I post model queries under Fabia II? Sorry to ask a question so early on in my membership!

iirc it isnt actually a Fabia III, just a Fabia II facelift, so post any questions under the Fabia II section.

Welcome to the site, good luck in finding your Fabia.

Regards

Jack

Hi to all Skoda Owners/Drivers,

For the last year I had various issues with my Skoda Fabia tdi 1.9 Sport 57plate New Shape model.

The MAIN problem still remaining is the steering knocks from under the stirring column that I get when I turn my Skoda Fabia to the left or right particularly when I'm making a turn at low speeds from a perfect surfaced road to an uneven road surface.

So far I had no joy in getting this matter sorted by Skoda garages. I've been to 3 Skoda Franchises and none have been capable to identify or fix the issue.

To date I had the front anti-roll bars replaced because it was believed to be the culprit of the knocks. Mileage when this work was carried out was 5.000miles

Second I had the Engine Mountings replaced hoping this would resolve my stirring column knocks. Mileage when this work was carried out was 8.000miles

And finally I had extra insulation foam placed under the dashboard to attempt to contain or eliminate the vibrations.

On top of all I had new front electric switches replaced, new roof aerial, throttle pedal module, front pillars replaced, extra insulation within the cavities of the front electric windows at the bottom of the front doors to stop the front electric windows vibrating during driving on uneven surfaces. My radio reception is still very poor and crackling. I only can get 2 to 3 stations on FM and this tend to be most of times unreliable in their quality.

Please help...... Skoda UK Customer Service has been very poor in their response and has wash their hands out of this standing issues. I'm currently preparing the papers with my Solicitor to start legal action against SKODA UK for work under warranty that has failed to resolve my main issue. Stirring Column Knocks. Moreover I have experienced regurarly understirring when going around a circle. I have no idea what its wrong with car. I've been told that my subframe has beeb updated in the 2009 year of manufacture of all skoda Fabias but my 2007 year 57plate has the old subframe setting with different front anti-roll bars.

Thank You all for your Help. If any of you is able to give me your comments and opinions please post them here as soon as possible. Thank You.....Alex
