Fabia heated seats that come on when the switch is off

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been done before, but a forum search didn't turn anything up.

My car is a 2002 Fabia Elegance TDI, so has the standard fit heated seats. Maybe because it's the first day of August today, the heating in the driver's seat came on with the heated seat switch set to 0. I tried switching the seat heating on and off a few times using the switch, but to no avail. I can obviously disable the seat heating to both seats by removing the relevant fuse, but would like to get to the bottom of the problem and was wondering if anyone else on the forum has encountered the problem of the heated seats coming on regardless of the switch being off and has a solution for it.

This has happened just as I was feeling really pleased with myself for fixing the famous Fabia dashboard creak thanks to advice on the Briskoda forums! Maybe the car has sensed that I've started to do some research into the facelifted Octavia VRs TDI CR and has decided to start playing up...

Possibly disturbed some wiring while fixing the dash? Could also be stuck relay. Tapping relays with a stick of wood while fault is happening will pinpoint the right relay.

Thanks for the reply. A couple of things to check there. It did occur to me after posting that the fault with the heated seats might be related to taking the centre vents in and out, as the heated seat controls are just under the vents...

did you get this fixed I'm having the same problem. It just comes on can't turn it off

Additional to Moggy Tech's post - you could find the relay by removing the relevant fuse ,and then check it's not stuck by replacing and observing relay . If you can work out where the coil is ,you could check using a low wattage bulb ( one side to coil in base ,other to earth) if the feed to the relay is permanent -and working backwards hence find the fault .(What I'm trying to do is to enable non electrical fault finders to use some fault finding logic /start thinking about fault in order to logically track down the cause .)

Does anybody know where to get heated seats fixed?? My driver's side hasn't worked since I've had the car.

Hi everyone. The my fabia heated seats have started playing up and wondered if anyone could help.

I was driving one day for about an hour with the drivers seat on. I suddenly noticed that it was cooling down. When I arrived at my destination (10 mins later)

It still wasn't working so I tested the passenger seat on FULL which came on but only a little (equivalent to about setting 2).

The drivers seat now doesn't work at all, but it did come on randomly a few times before.

I've checked all connections under both seats and can't see anything wrong.

And I can't see that both switches would mess up at once.

I also can't see that both elements would mess up at once.

Could it be one of the black control units under the seats? If so could one unit going wrong affect both seats?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Howard
