Does a new Octavia come with a warning triangle?

Featured Replies

Just noticed that my new Octavia has clips and a space for a warning triangle but there isn't one there....

You have to buy it I'm affraid, not part of the standard kit.

HTH

They're 2 quid from Lidl. Or £12.99 for the exact same one at Halfords!

£9.99 from the accessory list if you want to utilise those clips.

Why bother ? It's not going to break down ;)

I suppose you could get a puncture though

Get the £9.99 accessory list one or one the same size and design if you want it to fit in the space properly - the legs on the 2 quid lidl ones are a bit big.

I got one from micksgarage.ie for about 5 euro. It fits the straps in the boot :)... They're a legal requirement if you're driving on the continent...

got one on ebay for £4 and fits etc, just a do a vw or skoda warning triangle search.

the lidl ones are too big by the way.

james.

I did have 3 thanks to the lease co. Sold them all on fleabay, along with spare mats and cargo nets.

As not a legal reqirement in the UK (yet), they're not supplied as standard.

Never bothered with them. 99% of people put them far too close to the car. By bumper close.

If an errant HGV can't see the car, he certainly won't see the tiny red triangle.

As rule 274 of the highway code say

"put a warning triangle on the road at least 45 metres (147 feet) behind your broken-down vehicle on the same side of the road, or use other permitted warning devices if you have them. Always take great care when placing or retrieving them, but never use them on motorways"

Still, as mentioned, they are a legal requirement in some countries.

And remember to take it with you.

I see so many abandoned on the hard shoulder every day as I tear up the tarmac. The wombles must have a roaring trade in them

As are High Visibility Vests (HVVs) or Jackets, now & they must be kept in the car not in the boot.

That's what underseat storage was built for
