My Octy VRS TDI is on varibale servicing and according to the maxidot it is due a service in 1400 miles. Was just wondering from peoples experience how accurate the indicator is and how much it can change between drives?

Secondly, at one point does the service indocator start flashing up?

Generally pretty reliable, it will be considering time, distance and oil quality.

Should start showing up as a warning with 1000miles to go

My variable service shows 6100 miles and 32 days. I presume I need to get the service done before the date limit as that's bound to occur first?

The limit is when the message will show.

Skoda will allow you to slightly exceed this, but dont go too far. Usually 1000-1500 is accepted as a maximum, so if you do high miles like I do mention it to the dealer at time of booking to check.
