New member - new octavia vrs advice req

Featured Replies

Hello to all. This is my first of hopefully many posts.Went out yesterday looking for a 2 or 3 year old Octavia Vrs Tdi Estate.Got talking to the sales guy who has now got me interested in a brand new facelift 2009 Vrs Estate.List price is £19,905 but they are doing vat free which brings it down to £17,369.

According to the What Car magazine the target price should be £18,577.Will Skoda dealers still do vat free on that price??

He offered me £3000 for my 2004 '53 plate Fabia Vrs(82,000 miles)which i thought was little low.

The only deal i could afford was a 42 month HP(approx £275 a month) with a final fee of £6855 which i thought was ok.

What do you guys think about all this?

Hi and welcome...... buyers market at the moment, however the facelift Octy will still be at a premium because it has only just been launched.

Im sure you would get more for your Fabia privately, why not try on here

Hello and welcome to the forum. I think you should be looking for at least 4k for your car, I recently bought a car and found you have to really play them of against each other, so go to other garages find out what they are offering. The figures you quote for finance total £21405 as the £3000 from your car would presumably be used as a deposit. This is maybe a wee bit dear, why don't you ask the dealer if he can do 0% finance. If the dealer can do this and give you 4K for your car you will pay £278 per month for 48 months with no final payment. At the end of the day it cames down to what you can afford but paying a garage £6855 for a car that I had been paying for 42 months would certainly stick in my throat. All the best in your search for a new car.

Just been to another dealer and he only offered me £3000 aswell. He says that the vat free deal is 50% covered by Skoda and 50% individual dealers so he cant offer me any more.

Oh just had another thought. The ballon payment at the end shouldnt be that bad if the car holds at least 40%.......i hope!
