Bought and fitted some xenons.

Featured Replies

Bought some xenons off ebay the other day. Think they wer H7's and H3's and was driving last night and I couldn't see bugger all! They are actually 100% genuine sh!t, my old lights were way better. Anyone else had this problem with xenons? I'm thinking I might have fitted them wrong, but it's only a bulb lol not exactly the easiest thing to fit wrongly.

I have a funny feeling if was just bulbs and not a full kit with ballast resistors etc, then they're not really xenons. I'm sure someone else with more knowledge will be able to advise

I didn't fancy the hassle of a full xenon installation, so I used PowerBulbs - Car Bulbs, Headlight Bulbs, Xenon Bulbs from Philips and Osram, including Philips Xtreme Power and Osram NightBreaker globes.. Very good selection, prices and service.

Alternatively if you do want to go down the full xenon route, many folk recommend HIDS4U.co.uk | HID Kits, car bulbs, wiper blades

Hope this helps somewhat!

Thanks for the links buddy! Mine cost £15 for a full set (main beam, dipped beam, sidelights and fogs) so I guess I got what I paid for lol. I think I'll get some from PowerBulbs, as they're within my budget (unlike to the £195 HID kit ). Cheers

No worries

For the record I have Phillips Bluevision side and dipped, which are nice and white, Osram Nightbreaker main (awesome bulb but seemingly they don't last long as dipped bulbs), and Phillips Silvervision indicator bulbs all round just 'cos I could :o

There are legal issues surrouding retrofit Xenons (ones with high voltage ballasts). The best way to get more light is to fit high % ordinary bulbs, Osram Nightbrakers (90%) or Philips Xtreams (80%).. However people on here find they don't last long. If you want a true white or blue Xenon look get the colored bulbs (Bluevision), however no cover will produse more light.

Yeah I was reading online about that. Tbh all I want is to have a whiter light, I don't need more light coz I'm happy with the light the standard bulbs are producing, I just don't like the yellow tint :P
