Guys is it just me or have Skoda missed a beat with the headlights on the new FL?, I think the Octavia is a stunning car, and I will probably even up with a FL down the line, but I can’t help feeling there is just something wrong with the bonnet due to the new headlight taking a scallop out of the bonnet, I like the update to the grill and fogs but the headlights.

First time I've seen those images side by side like that. Have to say the original looks more agressive. The FL looks more 'feminine'. Orignal is best...

We all have differing tastes dude should be no problem, I think the Fabia started the headlight shape in the Oct II, you can see how the same design scallop has went onto the Fabby:

in real life the new one looks far better in the flesh rather than the photoshop mockup posted in the first post by the OP.

Manny having seem them both in the flesh I prefer the older pre FL style.

Agree 100% - exactly the same with the Superb, not so certain with the Fabia though.

Yup, agree with that. I love the Superb lights, they look mint in a Bat-fink wing style! I'm getting the new FL after much umm-ing and ah-ing. In the flesh, they do look pretty good . The artist's impression made them look really strange, and the car looks too tall and thin. The vRS looks quite smart in blue with a more aggressive looking front bumper........

Is it me or does it bear a resemblance to the last but one phase of Impreza?

I agree lads, the Superbs lights are fantastic, an update but still retaining the top part of the light being in line with the bonnet at top edge, the "scallop" goes down the bumper rather than into the bonnet, very classy looking I reckon.

If I were to choose a Fabia on looks it would definately be the older one, somehow those new headlights just don't work for it.:eek:

However, I think the prefacelifted Octavia looks almost like an 80's car, mk3 escort headlights and bonnet anyone???:confused:

Harry, don’t take this the wrong way purely a personal taste issue and we all vary, but I don’t think it looks aggressive at all, the side view shows how much more bonnet of the car is missing due to the scallop, almost like a raised eyebrow expression.

Guys imagine the new Superb headlights instead of the FL version, which would be better? even to the guys who like the FL update, which would be your preference, the Superbs lights are stunning, range leading IMHO across the Skoda brand.

I must say I like the new lower grill and fogs, no argument that is very nice, but it would look much nicer with the Superb lights Arry.

I prefer the old front end to the new one. The new headlights look a bit generic Korean to me, and along with the extra serve of chrome on the grille surround I think the front end is out of step with the more subtle and restrained (some would say old fashioned and fuddy duddy ) styling of the rest of the bodywork. I also prefer the way both the grille openings in the old one has vertical bars, rather then the new one with the top opening having vertical bars but the bottom opening having a very Golf GTI ish hexagon grille.

I frequently think that the original styling works the best, as face lifts are usually trying to follow whatever trends have developed since the orignal styling work was done, and they don't seem to be quite as coherent for that reason.

But each to their own, it would be a very boring world if we all had exactly the same tastes.

Looks very nice in blue, and I think the FL front end really suits the RS...
