Scunnered...

My Kestrel DAS-6 polisher died today, mid-detail

Was getting rid of some minor dealer-inflicted swirling on my mum's new black peugeot 207 1.6 HDI Sport, got the bonnet done, quarter of the roof, then it went from it's usual *huuuuuuuum* to *huuu-chugga-chugga-clonk*...nothing...

Left it a while, worked fine for 5 minutes then the same. Checked the brushes, practically zero wear, phoned the supplier...seems I would need to send it back to Kestrel, who will want to repair it, which will obviously take time. Time I don't really have, as I had another job lined up after this one (a Seat 230bhp Ibiza Cupra 1.8T), then possibly a Vauxhall VXR8, a quick tidy up of my Fabia, before moving away to college in a shade over 2 weeks. Not good.

Being where I am, I can't borrow or buy another one, indeed I know of only one other person on the island who has a D/A and he's working offshore right now.

Buggeration.

Sorry, felt like a wee rant there

possible to speak to his family? the other person with DA?

Sorry to hear about this buddy and I hadn't heard of any problems with the Kestrel product but this is one of the reasons I have two DA's just incase..........:o

Sure they will fix it ASAP though...........

Good idea but unfortunately not, his family don't live here.

Maybe it's another incentive for me to try to master the rotary!

Thanks, yeah I bought it from Tim at cleanyourcar, who I have had nothing but sterling service from, so I'm fairly confident it'll get sorted out. Fingers crossed...

I presume you're up in Stornoway and not down Glasgow at the moment ?

If the latter, feel free to come borrow my PC.

Thank you very much for the kind offer, but I don't move to Glasgow until the 26th (wow, 2 weeks today, yikes!)

When I'm down, I'll just be looking after my own car (once I find somewhere with a spare hosepipe...) so I hopefully won't be needing a DA. It's just college terms so I'll be back and fore between Glasgow and Stornoway a bit too.

Thanks all the same though

Regarding the 207 that I was midway through, some SRP and a couple of coats of wax is keeping my mum pretty happy till I come home for Christmas so all is well.

Scunnered ... that's a new one on me.

So, I looked it up ....

What really made me laugh, is the adverts on those websites come up with..

"Shop with us for all your scunnered needs",

"find the best deals on scunnered here"

I wonder where they get their stock from ?

Anyway, I'm sure the OP was a little frustrated or even disappointed,

however, hopefully his supplier will repair his machine and then he'll be able to finish his mum's car in the Christmas holidays.

Used my DAS6 today successfully. :) Hope you just had a dud and will get a replacement sorted a.s.a.p.

Thanks fella  here's hoping.

They're pretty good bits of kit really eh?

Yup love mine. I like the way you can "rev" it when cranking up the speed once the polish is spread a bit.
