New VRs- spec question!

Featured Replies

Hi all, first post but having been browsing for a few weeks. I'm considering a new FL diesel VRS. I've had a look on Drive the Deal and specified a car as follows: Acoustic parking sensors - rear £260.00 Auto dimming rear view mirror/rain sensor + light assistant £149.99 Maxidot £125.01 Metallic paint £400.00 I'd like a space saver, but not an option on that site. I'm confused as to whether the Maxidot is standard spec or not. The brochure shows the VRs as coming with a 'trip computer'. Is this one and the same, or does the maxidot add something extra. Drive away price is £16323. I haven't been into the dealer yet to see a/ what they'll offer in p/x for my car or b/ if they are prepared to match/better the DTD price. What prices have people been able to achieve on FL Vrs at dealers? Any other experiences would be welcome.

Hello and welcome.

DTD don't mention a spare on their website but it is available as a factory option at a cost of £50. The Maxidot is not the same as the trip computer, a quick search on here for maxidot will reveal all you need to know but this is one option worth having for £125.

I went into a local dealer armed with my DTD quote and simply asked them what they could do and they matched it without any problem. I was happy with this since I prefered dealing directly with my local dealer. Deal as follows:

FL vRS CRD Hatch with the following spec:

Brilliant Silver Metallic

Curtain Airbags

Heated Seats

Rear Sunblind

Maxi-dot

Front & Rear Parking Sensors

Light Assistant etc

Xenons with AFS II

Spare Wheel

Front & Rear Mud Flaps

Rear Sun Shades

£17,500

Thanks for that. That's a pretty good spec for the price. I don't think there should be any trouble with the haggling (assuming they don't try and rape me on the p/x. Not in any desperate rush with the VAT free deal lasting till december.

Maxidot isnt standard ;)

BUT it's highly desirable, so well worth the outlay come trade in IMO.

OK, as an almost new vRS owner.........what the hell is Maxidot?!?!?!

YouTube - Maxidot

The bit you'll regret not spec'ing as it costs £500 to retrofit v's £150 from the factory

Hi everyone,

Apologies midlifecrisis, I'm jumping on your thread, I'm in similar position, been reading the threads here for a few weeks. I have also a p/x, and looking to find a deal within 2 months. I'm a new member based in Colchester.

Atty, £17.5k!, that is a serious good price which your local dealer matched DTD. Did you also get the 0% 2yrs finance, if not did the dealer offer it?

Many Thanks,

Wasabi

Guys is the Bolero CD/MP3/SD audio player standard on all new FL VRS? Another question guys are the 18" Neptune alloys standard on the new FL VRS? Sorry. Can someone post the standard spec of the new car before adding options. Cheers fellas. Have a friend asking.

yes and yes

standard kit is

18's

cruise

bolero

front and rear electric windows

dual zone climate

jumbo box with aux in

those would be the main interest..

I added

full leather

maxi dot

parkings sensors

mdi

light assistant

spare wheel

dealer did offer the 2 years interest free or 3 years at 1.5% flat (about 4.8% apr) better than any bank rate but only on new cars

Brilliant spec FTM, Good to see the price is hovering around £17K with that standard spec + very nice optional additions (I miss the rear parking sensors on my LE). The LE came in with the standard kit you mention below + full leather & maxidot for £17K. Brillaint cars for that spec when you compare with what else is on offer from other Marques, And the Neptunes looks ace, my BIL is considering a VRS since he seen mine, he is checking out the FL for a demo. Interesting to know the current spec & price – cheers mate.

I would save £400 on metallic paint and get white, get the maxidot and have £250 left in your pocket :)

I spend enough time driving white cars thank you! ;) What delivery times are people being quoted? Is there a significant wait from ordering to delivery?

I was quoted earlier today 10-12 weeks so to get the 0% finance & VAT free offer you'd need to order Mid September at the latest, to ensure that the car is registered, if it's not registered by December 31st then you've lost the 0% finance & VAT free offer & the price goes up dramatically.

I thought neptunes were an upgrade, and standard was still 17" zeniths.

nope 18's as standard

In some countries eg Ireland? it is

I'm still not convinced about that. When you place the order, you agree the price there and then. If it's not delivered in the offer window and the price goes up, you would be entitled to cancel the order and get every penny back as it's 'Bait and Switch'.

What's stopping Skoda delaying all orders until Jan 1st 2010 due to 'unforeseen circumstances' and then supply demanding full price?

As it states on the offers page...

Don't forget the small print

Offer not available in conjunction with scrappage offers. Offer is subject to a minimum 50% deposit and is over a two year period.

Retail sales only. Indemnities may be required. Subject to status. Available for over 18's for registrations before 31st December 2009. Škoda Finance, Freepost Škoda Finance.

Subject to vehicle availability. Offer may be varied or withdrawn at any time

Note the get out clause at the end of it, that I've highlighted in RED.

So yes they could get away with it but it would be an extremely adverse move publicity wise and with the number of adverts that they're running in the magazines as well, I don't think they'd dare, it would cause too much damage to the reputation, that they're building or trying to.

The offer can be varied, but once you have signed on the dotted the offer is no longer valid for that transaction and the contracted price applies.

yeah I cant see how they change a price when you signed for it and agreed the deal and the order is in the build queue

The primary get out clause would then be:

registrations before 31st December 2009

So if they don't have the VIN/chassis number etc & the paperwork or whatever with the DVLA by that date, so that the car is registered on the DVLA system, then they can shoot the price up!!!

:orb_angry

and you would still be able to walk away. That information can be obtained the moment the build begins. Skoda UK would not be put the price up as the contract still stands.

One issue I do have with the VRS is the lack of MFSW. I don't want DSG and find it ridiculous that there is no other option to have at least stereo controls on the steering wheel. Every car I've had for the last ten years has had them. Skoda are missing a trick there.

I also have this issue. If you have the bluetooth option, how does this work if there is no mfsw option? Don't tell me you can't have bluetooth on a manual vRS? That would be bloody stupid... Dealer seems to think that bluetooth is available on the manual vRS and the brochure is incorrect, please say this is so....

I can confirm you can only have the Bluetooth® and telephone function for multi-function steering wheel and Maxi-dot option with the DSG box, it's a £480 option.

I must admit I'm starting to go off the vRS, because of this stupid rule of only having a MFSW on a DSG vehicle, I might just say sod it and go for a 1,8 TSi Elegance instead which is better equipped & cheaper too...

The reason I'm saying that is that I'm not sure I could live with a DSG box!
