High Mileage Used Diesel - Good or Bad?

Featured Replies

Not all company cars/rep mobiles are thrashed. Mine is gets well and truly pampered and when it goes to auction next month someone is in for a great buy. Its just had its 60K service yesterday and its running as sweet as. Its a Mar07 07 plate with 58K on it.

On another note, I have the chance to buy it from HSBC so I rang today just out of interest and they said they want £10100 for it. Is this a good price?

Same was true of my 54 plate Octy II 1.9Tdi which had clocked up 115,000 miles when it was replaced at 4 years old this January.

The car was completely reliable needing only a replacement cruise/indicator stalk, redesigned oil filter housing and rear wiper motor.

I always had the car main dealer serviced whenever the computer indicated it was time, while tyres were quality Michelin Primacy's all round. It was treated as if my own property and I was genuinely sad to see it go.

HSBC, the lease company, quoted a price of £3,400 for me to buy, however, at the start of this year the bottom had fallen out of secondhand cars and I didn't want to risk losing money by trying to sell privately for a modest profit.

The bodywork was in good condition with the exception of a small dent on the front nearside wing, while the interior would have benefitted from a valet but had not been smoked in or treated as a rubbish bin. All switches operated as they did from new and there were none of those annoying squeaks/rattles present on a lot of used cars (even some new ones!).
