Auxilary belt on vrs?

Featured Replies

Can I ask whether the fabia vrs has an auxilary belt and when does is it recommended? My clio 182 has an auxilary belt and needed doing every 36,000 miles or 3 years, which ever is sooner. Just thought that seen as I'll be getting the cambelt done on my vrs (pickup on saturday!), if the auxilary belt needed doing too, I could get it done at the same time.

Cheers,

Stan

i don't think there is a service schedule for the alternator/aux belt , but as it will be taken off to do the cam belt , you could get it done anyway

but they do last a long time , at least a couple of cam belt changes

i had mine done, and its tensioner, when i had the cambelt done, though i do work for Renault so thats what im used to being done

How much would I be looking at for a new auxiliary belt as I'm assuming it hasn't been done after 62,000 miles. Is it the same in the vrs as the clio whereby if the auxilary belt snaps it can take the cambelt and in turn, ruin the engine?

Cheers,

Stan

If the auxiliary belt snaps then I don't think it will effect the cambelt as that belt is in a plastic cover. I don't know what it says in the service book, but in the Haynes manual, I have in front of me, it says check it every Inspection service, then check and replace every 40K miles or 4 years.

Thanks Jim, I think I will just replace it when the cambelt is done in the next few weeks, peace of mind and all that.

Cheers again,

Stan
