LOL Ian. It's to do with the nikon lens thread :) Chris already has the 70-200 and posted some really nice shots. I was going on about the 85/1.4 and have started to nurture his lust for it.

I just caved in and bought a 70-200 so now he ought to get the 85

No, but working for the same head honcho at the moment

But it'll be one of my wedding lenses. Pristine condition, bought second hand from a chap not far from me so we met up in a McD's, I did a quick check, we had a nice chat and that was it :D

I'm now upping your "surplus baggage charge" for the Ring trip a bit more :D

I like your school of thought, I'll run that by swmbo and see what she has to say:D

Congrats on the 70-200. It really is an excellent lens:thumbup: How you finding the focal length on the D700?

:D Although not sure if I'll bring it. The 120-300 would be a better lens I think.

I'm still to play around with it. Just fired off a few last night when I met the chap selling it.

I will say though that, at first glance, I don't seem to suffer from corner softness, even at 2.8 on the full frame sensor anywhere near as much as people have complained about  I'll have a play over the weekend, weather permitting.

Although, interestingly enough, I think I'll keep the VR off most of the time. It takes some getting used to with the constant clicking and slight bizzareness you see through the viewfinder from time to time.

But very impressed with the quality and hand-holdability. It's not that heavy and a lot more useable than I anticipated :cool:

Yeah, I find the weight OK. A lot of people moan about how heavy it is but I generally use it as a walk around lens. As long as you don't have the full weight of it hanging off your neck I find it fine for all day use:thumbup:

VR off, interesting. I only turn it off for tripod use or fast panning. Keep me posted on your findings.

Looking forward to seeing your results.
