broken vent flap

Featured Replies

Not sure if anyone has had this issue, but I had one broken on the passenger side and it really annoyed me as it looked out of place due to hanging differently to all the others.

Last night I took the Vent apart and the last owner must have tried to put a air freshner on and broken one of the strips of plastic. Had to glue some bloody small bits together and although it no longer turns, it does at least sit like the rest. At some point I will try and add another little bit of plastic so it moves with the rest.

Just thought I would share my finding just incase someone else had the same issue.

The vent came out easy with 2 store cards either side

has happened to my drivers side one going to replace it some time

I dont suppose skoda would sell the little flaps seperately as thats all I need now I have fixed the holding for it

i was just going to replace the whole vent

My lad put his tenis racket end straight through the snazzy round vent on my Audi A3:eek:, and that was ridiculously expensive to replace.

I also got hideous rattling sounds from all the bits that went into the ducting, and that had to be cleaned out.

Thank god it was a company car.

I'm sure you can get a new one for a few quid from Skoda, and as it is so easy to pry out with store cards, I would have though a straight replacement would be better than all the mucking about with glue. Also bear in mind that the glue will probably go off once it is subjected to bit of heat in the sun and from the heater in winter, and you might be left in the same situation as before IMHO.

I'm sure somebody on here can get you the part number if your nearest dealer can't, and let us all know the price if you go down that route.

im afraid its not a few quid :(

one on the drivers side has broken! but none of the flaps, its the actual bit theat connects to the roller to open and close them! anyways it all makes up one vent! skoda in peterborough said to get a new complete vent is £70+vat IIRC and you have to buy it as a unit, you can just buy one plastic strip!

:eek:OMFG!

Glad the Fabia has four doors, so no more kids clambering in passed the dash with the usual stuff in their hands.

I take it back, get the glue out, or get down the scrappies with store cards in hand if Alex doesn't come up trumps:O

£70

I have been looking on ebay but nothing as yet. I think the superglue should be alright, but we shall see when the weather gets hot.

Someone's yanking your chain about the prices though:

passenger's vent (but it might be the driver's) - 6Y081970147H - £21.01 + vat

driver's vent (but it might be the passenger's) - 6Y081970247H - £21.01 + vat

Thanks Jon

just ordered one, with VAT and postage £11.50. Just hope it looks good, can't imagine it doesn't

Must say the super glue worked well and has held firm, but I wanted it so all theflaps furned together rather than all bar one. Was a pain as reaching from the drivers seat to make them all uniform was a struggle

One of my flaps broke the other day, the little tab/pin snapped off that locks it to the closing mechanism snapped off - looks like a weak spot in the design.

I fixed it by carefully drilling a 1mm hole in to the flap and than inserted a thick hot needle into the hole and then ground off the end of the needle to the required length.

I built up the needle slightly with some old body putty that i had kicking about so that is was an almost exact match to the tab/pin in diameter, and then after it had set put it all back together.

Job's a good un so far
