Possibly buying a new VRS

Featured Replies

Well some people may call me crazy but I've really like the facelift VRS and because of the VAT free promotion I have been offered a really good deal which should result in basically a straight swap or cashback. In fact I may get cashback anyway and take advantage of the 2 year 0% finance.

Not sure on spec as I don't want to go over board so I have 2 choices:

1. Octavia VRS 2.0 FSI Manual with:

Maxidot

Metallic/Pearl Paint

Heated Seats

Rear Parking Sensors

Light Assist/Rain Sensors

Xenons

2. Octavia VRS 2.0 FSI DSG with

Maxidot

Metallic/Pearl Paint

Heated Seats

Front + Rear Parking Sensors

Light Assist/Rain Sensors

Xenons

MDI

Bluetooth with MF Wheel

Also can't decide on a colour, narrowed it down to Black, Silver, Anthracite or Race Blue. I'm sure some people (no names :D) would love me to go for Yellow but I don't think thats really me.

What do people think?

I've never seen the point of parking sensors, but then I have spacial awareness :)

Do you not like your Golf? That must be quite new?

They are more for my works dodgy carpark and my garage than general day to day parking, have had them on my last 4 cars so would be a bit lost without them I think.

I do like the Golf and it is quite new yes, but I just feel the VRS offers more in terms of looks and also has more power. Obviously if there wasn't such good deals on the VRS at the moment I wouldn't be considering it.

You're pretty crazy, at least in financial terms. :D

Nice wheels by the way, are you going to transfer those to the VRS?

You may think so but I got such a good deal on the Golf in the 1st place the financial penalty is negligible. Not sure on the wheels yet, may just sell separately and just keep the VRS as standard.

Get a Hillholder, well worth it, little cost as esp is standard.

hill hold not an option on the VRS

Well, it's got one anyway.........it's called a handbrake! :D

Option 2, in anthracite :)

  • Author

Well should find out tomorrow what cars are in the loop so to speak, if none suit then factory order it will be.

Not sure on Anthracite now, I know it's different and would be unique to the FL VRS but I am drawn to either Black now or Race Blue.

I know the blue is common but it's unique to the VRS which is appealing and their showroom car in blue looked stunning, black is great when clean but with winter coming up it won't be clean for long.

Decisions Decisions

Option 2 in blue then :D

Thanks am certainly drawn to Opt 2 if a factory order. May even throw in the leather seats.

Salesman did reckon he could prob get a pre-built one from the system with a decent spec so may not have final say on colour.

One thing that was good was if the find a spec on the system that I'm happy with but it say had 1 or 2 small extras like Sunroof or MDI etc then they would cover the extra cost as it helps them with the sale :D

Bargain! That's good :D

Well after discussions with the dealer today this looks like a goer with cash back in my pocket into the bargain.

Specification will defiantly be the following:

2009/10 FL Octavia VRS 2.0 TSI Manual (had enough of DSG and makes mods/remaps easier)

Light Assist/Rain Sensor/Auto Dimming Mirror

Xenons

Heated Seats

Maxidot

Pearl/Metallic Paint

Spare Wheel

Rear Parking Sensors

I may include the following but not sure:

Front Parking Sensors

MDI

Leather

Now just the colour to decide.................:)

the mdi is an essential for me..having seen footgae of it working in a golf it looks perfect for my ipod and cannot wait!

of course if you dont have an ipood you well just want to use the SD card slot

Go Blue. I know what you mean about it being 'popular' but IMHO that's just because it looks far more stunning in that colour than any other (well i would say that i bought one).

i,m on my 3rd vRS

No 1 mk1 in black, looked great when washed and waxed but 10mins later looked :(

No 2 mk2 in race blue stonking colour

No 3 mk2 in silver always looks clean and shines really well when waxed

my next one will be either red or yellow to be a bit different  but that dont help you much.....

Well as of this morning the new VRS is ordered

FL Octavia VRS 2.0 Manual

Race Blue Metallic

Maxidot

MDI

Spare Wheel

Heated Seats

Parking Sensors F&R

Light Assist/Rain Sensor/Auto Dimming Mirror

Xenon Headlights

Just got to wait for a build date now

Update: Build Week 44 now confirmed from dealer

Nice spec that - I am sure you will enjoy it :)

How much did it set you back?

  • Author

£18k including all those options as above, basically a swap for the Golf, although I am taking approx £5k cashback from the dealer then taking advantage of the 0% finance for 2 years.

hehe come the 59 plates this place will be swimming in new vrs's!

but it is a lot of car for the money in my opinion

2 years intrerest free is a no brainer as well really..2 years time the car is yours and it didnt cost you anything extra to spread it out

should just be in time to see the early designs for the replacment octavia! the vrs always turns up later though

Thats kind of what I thought pay it pay it off over 2 years by then the new one will be approaching, VRS prob a year to 18 months later by then mine will be 3/4 years old and will then be time to perhaps get the new one :D

its certainly at the back of my mind.new model will porbably be in 2012 and it took them a while to get the mk2 vrs to the market..for some reason mk1 and mk2 they were not available at launch

by now they must realise that its quite a large market for them so maybe for the mk3 they may develop it a bit quicker

hill hold not an option on the VRS

I have it on mine!
