Columbus media stuck on 'system starting'

Featured Replies

Any ideas? was working fine with about 3GB of MP3's copied. Tried factory reset no luck, everything apart from media seems OK.

Had tried the <>i reboot, no change. As I was on phone to dealer this morning, got in the car to try it one more time and it seems to be working!

I 'think' I had set it on repeat, and it was playing the same song over and over (had the volume turned down so as not to annoy anyone) while displaying the 'system starting' message. When I adjusted the volume, it switched to the media player display, and by quickly hitting pause and then 'selection' (had to try this about 20 times as it kept flicking back to 'system starting', I was able to break out of the repeat loop and it now appears to be operating normally.

So basically I bashed around with a few buttons and it seems to have sprung back into life..... that's computers for you!!!!

Nope... it went wrong again, but I think it relates to having a blank SD card, or a microSD-to-SD adapter slotted in, put either of these in it goes weird, take them out, works fine.

SD card with data on works fine to.... weird....

Dont forget the columbus does not support any SDHC/MircroSDHC and so on. Only bog standard SD cards upto 2GB in size are supported, inserting something else may have unpredicatble results.

Thanks but it's actually playing from the HDD that's the problem, inserting blank (2GB) SD or microSD adapter seems to screw it up, not a problem now I know!

If it only does it with the SD card in place, try another card (if you have one). Failing that, format it and do a fresh transfer.

It could be a hidden file on the card that the unit is trying to load instead of from the ROM.
