Logitech Harmony One

Time to replace my aging Sony Remote Commander.

Had a look around and this one seems quite nice, found it for £100 delivered.

Anyone got one who could give an opinion or point me towards a cheaper source?

Any other models I should consider?

Got the 885 (now superseded by the 895). Cracking bit of kit and easy to set up. Picked mine up off eBay a few years back.

Got mine on oyyy.co.uk when it was on offer. Was 70-something delivered, but it's back up to 100 there now.

Big thumbs up for the remote though. Takes a bit of getting used to and time to set up 'activities' but I wanted a one-stop remote for the Media Centre, TV, Hifi and Virgin box in the living room and it's doing very well. Only minus I've had is that it can't turn off the PS2 because you can't 'hold down' the power button (it just sends the IR command once for a set duration (maybe you can change this, but not figured out how yet)).

Just ordered an IR repeater so the Virgin box can be hidden away in a unit, so hopefully it'll work well with that too. Even got it working on my Mitsubishi TV which is at least 20 years old now

I have a One. Picked it up from Play for 69 quid. They seem to have specials every now and again.

Wow that's cheap :) Tell you what, I'll give you £70 for it...! All that ownership for zero cost!

Yes, that was the second cheapest place, slightly better deal at Superfi.co.uk.

I think it's the way to go, totally out of touch with the remote control market but the philips range still seems waaay too expensive and no-one else seems to offer anything half decent without spending a fortune. I have a PS3 as well, and the Logitech add on for full PS3 control is only £35 quid on top so I'll probably go with this one.

Worth keeping an eye out on Play but they do go quickly, I got mine for £69 a while ago and then recently there was another deal which I emailed to Ian and he got his one. I believe he then emailed it to someone else who sadly missed out.

Thanks Stu - I'm in no hurry as I've put up with the clunky Sony one for about 4 years now so perhaps I'll wait a couple of months and see if it crops up on offer anywhere.

Out of interest, were you specifically looking for that remote or was it the price that tempted you into an impulse buy?

I had one previously which was good and given the price of the one at Play it seemed a deal not to be missed.

Damn, that was only a couple of weeks ago

In fairness I have used a Philips Pronto for quite a few years now and for flexibility and customisation the Philips wins hands down. It is after all a blank canvas.

The One on the other hand will do everything you need to do but may frustrate at times but you can always get around it.:o

Must be your lucky day Tim, it's available now using the code - Be quick!!

Yeah, that's spooky. Paid for my freedom membership for a couple more years :)

I went back at lunchtime to buy a couple more to stick on eBay but they'd all gone ;)
