wood trim

Featured Replies

Hi,comrades ive just had my supa and thinking of taking the standard trim inside and replacing it with the wood trim has anybody done this how difficult is it I think it will give it the lounge look

I'd quite like to know also, as mine has the standard Elegance trim and ideally I'd have liked wood (compromise on buying a nearly-new as opposed to new). Are these pieces of trim interchangeable, and how hard is it to change them?

Just get a plastic trim remover and the trim will just prise off, you then just have to push the new trim on:thumbup:. the parts are available from your local dealer but it will not be cheap! :(

Isn't wood trim standard equipment in the Elegance? I know that some of it can be exanged with fake "aluminium" trim, but at an aditional cost. Belive it to be approx £50 or so for the cheaper looking plastic/alu trim. But why on earth would anyone prefer plastic "alu" trim over wood in the first place??There really are som "strange animals" out there!?

No the cheap aluminium is standard in the elegance , IMO wood is old fashioned

plus its a £120 option

Interesting difference between markeds as in Norway the wood is standard and plastic/alu. costs £50 ekstra.

A matter of taste of course, but I have always had a weak spot when it comes to wood trim in my cars. Could be that I would rather be on my yacht than driving in my car?:D

Aluminium and Kevlar is OK in aeroplanes, but in boats and cars? No, thank you ever so much!

Same here (Belgium).

I actually liked the alu look better, but simply refused to pay extra to get a trim from a lower spec version! Outrageous IMHO.

How old are all you fake wood lovers out there....do you all wear string backed driving gloves as well?!

When my company car was on order I kept telling my fleet manager that if the car arrived with "wood" trim I would refuse to sign for it...I think it is absolutely vile.

Horses for courses as they say.

I tend to agree Dan i was trying to be more diplomatic :):):)

Wood trim reminds me of old Rovers and since i dont smell of wee quite yet i and far too young for such a car ;)

Although my E Class had wood trim it was (imo) tasteful black birds eye maple, brown wood can look nice with a beige interior though but it no longer belongs on a premium model imo

Several years ago when I was shopping around for a new car I wandered into a Rover showroom. I took a look inside a Rover 75 (which was getting good reviews at that time) and spotted to wood trim inside. I was out of that showroom so quick that the salesman didn't even have time to look up from his crossword!!.

Wooden inlays look ok in certain marques (like the Merc) as they know how to make it look tasteful as in the pictures in the previous posts but keep it out of the mainstream stuff like Skoda's.

P.S. my current Octavia L&K has piano black trim which is another matter. I think it is great.. Why is this not on the Superb?
