Wipers have packed up!

Featured Replies

I noticed a few days ago that my windscreen wipers had slowed down considerably then this morning they moved an inch or so then stopped completely. I'm guessing the motor's burned out but there's no noticeable smell or smoke or anything.

Anyone know what parts I will need to order and where is best/cheapest?

Also is there any wiper upgrade that might be worth doing at the same time?

its not the motor, your linkage has seized up. common issue on the octy. its possible to dismantle and relube the current linkage, and that should get it going again for the time being.

What about with me being a complete buffoon with all things mechanical?

Is that job really that easy?

The difficult bit is getting access to the linkage, then the whole thing just lifts out.

And when you say that relubing the linkage will sort it for now what is the long term fix? A new linkage?
