Anyone tried 2 stroke diesel additive?

Featured Replies

I found this link in these pages;

Freel2.com - View topic - 2-stroke oil and diesel

The gist is that since sulphur has been removed from diesel the engine has lost some useful internal lubrication.

Those testers on that forum have reported easier starting, smoother & quieter running & increased mpg.

I'm presuming some users here have read the thread, just wondering if anyone has actually tried some?

Hi,

this issue has been covered in several threads, even if I can't remember which one. Anyway I', currently using 2 stroke oil as per suggestions you found on that very site with positive results.

Regards,

Funnily enough I was just reading your post on freel2 when I decided to check back here for relies, spooky!

I did do a search on "2 stroke" but didn't find much in Oct 2.

Did you find you're mpg increased enough to cover cost of additive, if at all?

Remember, SUK specifically advise against using fuel additives. Could cause warranty issues in the future.

I have a complete and total aversion to putting "things" in my tank other than fuel.......

To each his own, I'd say.

I can only add it didn't hurt even after many thousands kilometers.

That is as may be but there >is< a risk and you've got to ask the question "is it worth taking that risk". Personally I'd not want to have that lingering doubt at the back of my mind that I >could< >potentially< be creating problems further down the line.

Do the potential (unproven) advantages outweigh the risk?

Just my opinion of course.........

Can only say it seems you'll never know :)

And just as a thought, I thought I was not perfectly aware of what is the blend called diesel fuel made by different brands. So I asked the opinion of a qualified chemical engineer, too.

Not going in my tank ( have a DPF). VAG will only let you put low SAPs oil into the engine in case that clogs the DPF, so I'm not putting other "stuff" directly into the fuel.

It makes sense to me to try to replace the lubrication that has been removed from diesel.

I'm not too worried about the DPF as JASO FC 2 stroke oil produces less soot than diesel.

I also run a diesel van, which is less sophisticated than a vRS, so I'm going to try on that first.

Thanks for replies.
