Currently there is a long delay with the1.4TSi units due to high demand. Not certain of the current situation with the Octavia but the Golf has a 6 to 7 month lead time at present. My Octy, a 1.4 TSi DSG Elegance, was ordered in Feb. and delivered in May. It is a car that is very satisfying to own and drive being very flexible and torquey much belying its 1.4 capacity. The power is exactly where it is needed and the engine's quoted torque figures bare this out. Economywise, it obviously varies on how and where you drive it. I easily achieve the quoted combined figure of 44mpg but of course much of my mileage has been taking it easy with running in. Overall the 1.4 TSi is a great package especially when paired to the DSG transmission. It is no surprise that it is in such high demand.

The theory I have is with the wide torque band available that there is a minimal power conversion loss and therefore it will not make a large difference wether you rev it to 4,500 rpm or change at 2,500rpm as you have driven economically and got what it says on the tin, then this is encouraging information, I will be closely observing this engine over the next x amount of time :D

Thank you for your response :D

With regards to the lead times; I ordered mine on 20th June and was initially told it was scheduled to be built this week. The dealer informed me a while back that it was due for build in week 36 (w/c 7th September) and that I should have it by the end of September. Received an email from the dealer stating that it was still on course for the 7th September build week.

If I do get it by the end of September it will only have been 3 months or so (about 13 or 14 weeks depending on when it arives), which, based on the horror stories I had heard is really not too bad.

I am madly looking forward to it - no DSG, only manual though - not sure if this affect the lead times or not.

Ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and was told end of Oct beginning of Nov.

You have done well, our Mr Hugo on this forum ordered his only 3 weeks after mine (ie. mid March ) and as far as I know he is scheduled to get his about the same time as yours. His is also a DSG so perhaps your manual has helped regarding the lead time. Hope Skoda stick with your quoted build week!

Manual or DSG, you will love it for sure.

Just checked on mine with the dealer and they have told me build date KW38.

Ordered mine 24th July. DSG might have a thing to do with it, as my order is for a manual.

Went in to my dealer last week to discuss revising the deal and if it was worth using the VAT/Interest free offer rather than the scrappage. I don't think there's going to be much in it but was told that the car has to be registered before the end of December and if I was ordering one now then delivery would not be until January.

Was that the delivery time for DSG or manual transmission?

Whether it was with the DSG or manual wasn't mentioned when I was told the January delivery date but the car I've ordered is a manual.

I wonder if it depends on the garage you order it from then? I know in Germany, depending on the dealer you go to, depends on how long it takes to get the 1.4TSi.

Something to do with each dealer having a certain contingent and when they've used it, they have to wait longer for any further models they order.

I certainly hope that's the case here, or hope your dealer is wrong otherwise I might be smarting come build week 36.:rotz:

It will be interesting to know if you or others are given different dates.

Agreed, looking through various threads it does appear to be a longer wait for the DSG than the manual, so pleased I chose that then!

We'll see what happens.

I ordered my 1.4TSI DSG in week 12 (mid March). It was initially sheduled for week 19 build, then week 21, then delayed indefinitely ... and it was finally built last week (week 34). :)

I was told the delay was due to exceptional demand for the 1.4TSI engine, across the VW group (Audi A3 and VW Golf both use the same engine). I don't know if it had anything to do with DSG.

I ordered mine (manual gearbox) on the 22nd May, I've just been told by the dealer to expect it at the end of September.

Good news at long last, about a fortnight should see you behind the wheel.

  • 1 month later...

We placed our order on July 27. Picked up the 1.4 TSI MT this Tuesday.

I ordered my 1.4TSi Elegance Hatch end of July and it was built 3 weeks ago.
