1.9TDi Turbo Problem?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Firstly, congrats on a brill forum. Been a lurker for a while but only just joined.

I have a 2005 Octavia 1.9TDi with 40,000 miles on clock.

Two weeks ago, as I accelerated to about 60mph, I felt a judder and lost acceleration. Thought it may involve a wait on side for AA, but car carried on driving smoothly, but with little acceleration. No turbo.

I rang my mechanic and carried on home. When I switched engine off and back on, the turbo returned. Classic symptoms of the system closing down to protect engine.

My mechanic read the diagnostic codes, which were as follows.

16683 Boost Pressure Regulator

17058 Shift Solenoid

18051 Central Unit ECU

Just wondered if the codes may indicate a different problem, or whether these codes are likely to point to the turbo being the underlying problem.

Since the episode it has not reoccurred.

Thanks

Mark

It sounds like it could be your "N75". Do a search on the forum, you should find plenty on it. Someone a bit more technical will be along shortly to answer your post, good luck. If your car is out of warranty and god forbid you need a turbo, I can't recommend Turbo Technics enough !!

Could be N75 or sticky turbo vanes. If I was you I'd get the codes read with VCDS for a better description.

Thanks, i'll hang on till it happens again and perhaps nip up to Jabba, as they are only about 10 mins away.

On the Mk2 Octy the N75 is within the Vacuum Block, which is rather expensive.

If you'd have been closer to me matey, id have let you try my spare unit.

Its not like the older Mk4 Golfs TDI's though.

Maybe you can check the vacuum pipes for splits, from the vacuum block to the egr etc etc.

The box is located on the bulk head behind the airbox.

You say hasn,t occured again but are those codes still logged after or did you clear them?

Maybe worth getting another scan to see if they have come back again.

Good luck hope its nothing serious especially at such low mileage.
