Recirculation (ventilation) not working?!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Only had the car a week, still finding out about bits and bobs on it.

I've noticed the Reciculation button (next to the Aircon) doesn't work.

Put the fan onto any speed (1-4) and press the Recirculation button and it doesn't light up.

It will sometimes briefly light up and then flicker and turn back off. It certainly won't stay on.

I'm thinking it's broken...

Makes no difference if the Aircon is on or off, and it makes no difference which way the air is aimed (screen/feet/face etc).

Also I changed the pollen filter the other day (it was full of leaves) and refitted a new one (correctly I believe). ever since then I can hear the airflow in the passenger footwell.

Is this because the Pollen filter is clean, or have I possibly fitted it back incorrectly? I made sure the cartridge was pushed in the correct way, and I've also connected back the cover and done both clips up fully.. Maybe it's just the airflowing faster now?!

Finally i've noticed that the temperature is very very slow to change from cold to hot. It's as if there is a very lazy motor which changes the temperature flow. Is this another fault somewhere?

Everything seems so wrong with the ventilation system to me!

I don't know about the pollen filter - but with the R/C system - while it isn't working on the botton, if you have the fans on then go into reverse it should enable the R/C mode, (so it doesn't suck up your exhaust fumes). Trying this might allow you to tell if its a dodgy button, (although it doesn't sound it if it still turns on sometimes) or the system itself.

Ideally, I think a fault scan (or something computer based) can be done on the ventaliation system.

Pain that its not working as I use mine all the time.

I cant help with the problem, but not sure if you are aware but they say its better to have it on when using the AC as it cools the air down quickers as its re-circulating the cooled air

Hope that makes sense

GL with the problem, hope its an easy fix :)

First off, if you got the car from a dealer, then it's up to them to fix your car!

If not, you will probably need a fault scan to tell you if your have a problem with the controller or the vent flap motors. If it's the latter (which I suspect), then it may be possible to exercise and/or reset them there and then...

HTH :)

Well it's definatly broken. yesterday it didn't work, this morning it worked perfectly fine on the way to work. I tried all sorts of combos (temp/fanspeed/airflow direction).

Then on the way home from work just now, it again didn't work. The light flickered on yellow, and then it went back off again. Tried turning off the fan, and back on, but prodding the r/c button didn't do anything.

I did notice (hear it) working when I first reversed the car out of the work parking space, so it's intermittant.

Looks like a trip back to the Dealer

skoda dealer replaced they re-circlation flapper motor today, haven't yet had a chance to look over the car, but it's defiantly working as it should now.
