08 1.9 TDi: Octavia Elegance Vs. Ambiente

Featured Replies

Good evening Briskodians,

I'm living in Ireland and will be looking at a couple of very tidy Octavia UK imports tomorrow. There is only about €1000 in the difference between them.

I feel like stretching to the Elegance but am worried about the standard tyre/alloy combination on the 2008 model year and its impact on comfort and long distance road trips on all manner of roads.

The Ambiente option would work out cheaper, perhaps be a little bit more comfy, but I'd be missing the Jumbo Box/armrest - are they easy (and cheap enough) to fit aftermarket to an ambiente.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

accuracy - Octavia

The climate control is a big bonus on the elegance , and the standard 16" alloys have no problems with comfort.

All other things being equal I'd suggest the extra is well spent.

Just get the elegance. Better value 2nd hand. The extras over the ambiente are all well worth having.

Although I haven't driven a pre facelift Octavia, I know the facelift has a comfortable suspension with the Elegance. I believe the suspension is the same in the pre fl models.

The suspension also has to deal with 17" and 18" wheels as well. From what I have heard the ride starts getting firm from 17".

With all those extras between Ambient and Elegance, I didn't have to think long before going for the Elegance, but you'll be getting those extras for less than when buying new.

Go for the Elegance.:D
