I had to replace a headlight bulb a few days ago (done 44000 miles so not too bad). Trouble is the beam is slightly high but I can't for the life of me figure out how to adjust it.

The manual is predictably useless, get the dealer to change all bulbs because the bumper needs to be removed...yeah right!

Any advice?

An MOT testing station will be able to help you for the cost of a few pounds or might even do it for free.
