Sky HD Sender

Featured Replies

I'm after am AV sender for the Sky HD. Just wondered if you had any recommendations? I've done a bit of research, and I would like above 5Ghz so the wireless int affected, and also one which works with the Sky HD remote control. I'm not bovvered if the AV sender can send HD pictures, as most of them probably can't.

TIA

We've never had much joy with AV senders, had about 4 different kinds & gave up in the end... Is there no way you can hard-wire with (decent quality) coax from the Sky box to the 2nd TV?

Not without chasing cables into walls and drilling holes through the floorboards. oh dear. I think I'll just go cheap and hope for the best.

My mate swears by the maplin ones. Key is to get a 5ghhz one not 2.4.

Sorry to dig up an old old thread chaps but what was the outcome of this??? Did you manage to find a decent wireless AV sender in the end? I'm looking to cancel our multiroom box due to lack of use and thought about replacing it with an AV sender for the odd occasion we wanted to watch sky upstairs.

Cheers

Dave.

Sorry. Never got round to buying a decent sender as I moved house. This house has a hard wired co-ax sender but I can't seem to tune it in with the digital TV upstairs so no better off really. There's no channel change function either.

Bought mine in Argos and works a treat with a spare sky remote that i had laying about. The only thing it doesnt like is when i have the microwave on!!...the picture goes all crackly!!

Previously reported a neighbour for this, because it was trampling all over the wireless frequencies.

Some of these things have power outputs way beyond what is legal and so destroy all other fair use.

FWIW, the microwave emits on that frequency, so it's not unexpected that this will happen.

I've found a 5gig Nikkai one at maplin that is £60-70 that looks ok and obviously doesn't get interfered with by home wifi and microwaves etc....... Even better when there are a couple of the same ones on eBay for around £10-20 used.

A bit of a thread revival, but were you tuning the sky box in with the analogue tuner? The RF out on a Sky box is not digital, so won't appear if you try to scan with a digital tuner.

I work at Maplin by the way, get this kind of problem all the time! :D
