fitting an amp

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted an amp without noticing lights dipping on big bass notes on standar battery and no power cap? I'm told by the ICE dealer that I won't need a power cap with this sort of power.

I'm thinking of an amp (2x200watts rms at 2 ohms, 2x100 rms at 4ohms or 1x400watts rms bridged)

you shouldnt need a power cap really, im guessing he means capacitor, what are you running from the amp, and what gauge wire are you using?

PS yes the lights can dim, not much you can do unlees you do fit the cap, but its not worth the cash!

i'm not sure what gauge i need, 4 or 8?

the main thing i'm concerned about is if i don't need a capacitor will my alternator and/or battery be stressed/damaged/wear out too quickly
