High milage Octavia TDi question?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm just looking at buy a skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi that I've seen a good deal on, but it's high milage. It's done 148k, is this a lot for this car? I would hope for it to run to 250k or more with a bit of luck.

As long as it's got all the service stamps, just run in mate. Taxi owners have reported more like 500_000 miles with regular servicing.

One word of advice; check all the electrics work right, particularly if it's an Elegance or L&K.

148k isnt a problem for a modern diesel engine as long as its been serviced correctly all its life,it should do 250k no problem as long as you look after it.i was in a golf tdi taxi on a 03 plate the other day that had done 374k!:eek:guy said he has it from new & apart from routine servicing & cambelts & a clutch its had no major work done to it! my own petrol vrs (04) is on 115k & if you put 55k on the clock it wouldnt look out of place! modern cars last a lot longer nowadays!

I got mine at 114k and it is now at 146k, in that time the following has gone wrong, i had to replace the clutch, the antiroll bar, the cambelt service, some tyres.... er.... i had to get some new windscreen wiper blades....

touch wood, it hasn't had any faults and will keep going for a while longer.

What i would say is the interior gets a little tired, seat bolsters and seatbelt doesn't retract as fast as it once did.
