To pressure wash a VRS engine?

I am off to Trax next weekend as I am sure many others of you are and want to clean the engine up a little before I go but do not want to stop myself from going altogether lol

Best not to. There's a guide to cleaning the engine bay in the Styling & Car Care forum (it's stikied, so near the top of page 1) that will help you get it clean without breaking stuff.

I've done it on mine before with no trouble, took the plastic cover off the engine and made sure all electric bits were covered with thick plastic bags, and didn't hold the nozzle too close to any fragile bits.

Cheers mate, should really try browsing round the forum first lol

I wouldn't point the pressure washer in there to be on the safe side, but normal hose pressure should be fine to wet things down and then rinse them off.

I think the normal technique is to use Megs APC spray and a small round brush to agitate the dirt, rinsing before and after. I also use silicone spray to freshen up all the plastic and rubber. All the hoses respond really well to a spray of silicone.

I've been caught working on the car in heavy rain several times and just left the bonnet up so the rain can wash all the salt out of the engine bay! Everything is designed to be water resistant anyway.

I wouldn't use a jet wash, just a normal hose with a slight spray will be sufficient after using something like megs APC or a engine degreaser. Also keep the car running as you do It as the heat will help the water evaporate.
