Superb 170 4x4 - any test drive links or experiences?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Although I'm interested in a vRS Octavia (posted elsewhere) as my next lease car, the 4x4 Superb 170 intrigues me. Apart from a brief Autocar review on it, I can't find anything.

If anybody has some road-test links to the 4x4 Superb, or better still, has some direct experience and opinion, I'd love to know.

Cheers.

as far as i know I'm the only non-V6 4x4 Superb driver on the forum, but I drive a 1.8tfsi. Can't comment on the 4x4 qualities yet, need to wait for the skiing season and Austria....

I've got one. Excellent car: quiet, comfortable, well-equipped and powerful.

I've test driven a CR170 4x4 Elegance and was very impressed with it.

Hi everyone,

I have decided against the Superb V6 3.6 in favour of the CR 170 DSG on grounds of more reasonable running costs, but I have always felt better with 4WD - my wife drives our Murano.

Has anyone noticed any significant worsening of fuel economy and performance, 170-2WD compared with 170-4WD?

Any advice either way before I buy mine please?

Many thanks!

I have theSuperb Elegance CR 170 4x4 and it does 51mpg on the motorway

Have the car a week and it has exceeded my expectations only niggle so far is the maps are old (V3) on the sat nav (RNS 510)

The 4x4 is quite clever in that it's not turning all the time.

I had an older version on the Octavia, still haldex. I did notice a slight improvement when I wnet to a FWD only Octavia... but I also noticed alot more wheel spin exiting corners and in spirited driving. If you do many miles on anything other than motorways, I'd say it's worth a the trade off.

Problem for me is I'm looking ofr a dsg 4x4 :(

Fully concur with Colin's comments, currently waiting for my Yeti 4x4 order to arrive; which will be my third Haldex equipped car.

Briefly owned of an Octavia II Sport TDI but missed the road-holding and traction of my previous Octavia 4x4 Turbo so I replaced it with a Golf TDI 4motion.

Also had a BMW 525iX many years ago but besides it being very unreliable it's 4x4 set-up did not offer the economy or flexibility of the Haldex system.

Hopefully if Skoda can introduce the Yeti TDI 140 DSG early next summer maybe Colin can at last find his perfect car.;)

Sue Baker is running one as a long term test car in 'What Diesel' magazine. All seems positive so far.

I am interested in this Superb or the Yeti as my next car ... I prefer the Yeti, Heather-Jane prefers the Superb BUT we both like the Volvo XC60!!!!

Time will tell.
