Im looking at getting a T plate S3 quattro for the other half with 55k on it. Just looking for some ideas on what to look for.

It seems quite tidy, no marks on the body, its got a service history. There seemed to be a rattle from the exhaust which im not sure about. Its got a chrome plated twin pipe, is that standard?

I also have a downpipe off my mk1 octavia...will that go on the S3 or is it different for the quattro'?

Is there anything to listen out for on the tranmission? The display is fading, when i had an A4 I seem to remember these can be fixed, is this still the case?

Any advice on these cars would be appreciated? Are the S3's alot different to drive than the octavia? I know you can uprate parts on the octy to S3 parts but is it immediately obvious when its driven? (dont want other half bragging)

I drove a 180bhp Quattro when I was looking for a new car, they handle brilliantly and launch really well.

Probably not as quick as a vRS though.

I need to check it out....some seem to be 225bhp....did u drive a 180bhp s3? Iv seen some which say they are 210bhp..

To stop the other half bragging - buy the S3, strip all the goodies from it and fit them to yours

But a brief bit about power output. The S3 never came with the 1.8T in 180bhp tune. Early models (1999-2001) had 210bhp (well PS actually ) and the later cars got 225.

Hehehe...the extra intercooler could work well on the Octy I think the one im lookng at is a 210 hp version...I am going to check to see if it has the KO4 turbo, if it does ill get it mapped for her ...and then maybe start driving it more myself Thanks for the link, ill get looking through the info now....
