Octavia + partial facelift spookiness

Featured Replies

Just having a quick look at Octavia Scouts on the Skoda website, and I noticed this oddity. Not only is the price completely breathtaking, but if you look closely you'll see that the backend has been facelifted, but the front end has not. What is this?

Is the pic of the interior new or old model?

How odd.................

the scout didnt get the external changes for a while, same as the vrs but did get the internal FL which would explain the inside. The rear lights though is a bit odd. maybe they just stuck in some new lights from the parts bin off the FL model when building it, keeping with the normal front end

HOW MUCH?!

It just seems weird to me that Skoda would want to produce such a hybrid. Imagine the disappointment if you ordered a new one expecting a FL, and got one of these! I wonder if there are ones out there with a FL front and un-FL backend? Is it a ??-09 model or a 09-?? model?

Anyway, here's one with a FL at both ends!

Yeah! It's probably unique.

£17,083 at DTD for a new one.

£22.995 at dealer for a second-hand hybrid one.

That's a £5,912 difference

Yeah! It's probably unique.

Is that the same as 'Special'?

The car is, absolutley, not unique. The Scout and vRS did not get the exterior changes, to the bodywork, at the same time as the rest of the range. Theirs has only recently been applied - see the vast number of posts on the facelifted vRS. Both models had the new interior from the date the remainder of the range had the facelift and the rear lamps too, after all the rear light cluster is not changed in shape, or fitting, just the reflector removed. For the Scout and vRS the reflectors in the rear bumper meant that this could be applied without the bodywork changes - with the change for the rest of the range was to receive the vRS rear bumper!

Woa! £23K!?

I've just paid £14k for my 2008 Scout with 6k miles and xenons.

OK, so its not got the FL interior, front parking sensors or heated seats but £9,000 is a big chunk!

Looking at the picture I see that the 2009 model gets silver roof rails... I'm in the process of swapping out my rear light clusters and rear badging to give my car the 2009 look, anyone know how much a pair of silver roof bars cost?

I've attached a couple of pictures of my Scout with the new clusters fitted... doing the badges this weekend :)

bet those lights werent cheap!

I'd rather have one that looked like yours to be honest! And I prefer the pre-facelift lights too :)

£23k. It's no wonder they're referred to as stealers.

They were actually a lot cheaper than I expected, £82.39 for both sides including VAT.

I still very much like the original tail lights but I couldn't resist getting the new ones!

Should get a good chunk of that back too by selling the originals on eBay

Picked up my new badges this morning.

I was initially worried about how easy it would be to align all the letters, I needn't have, they come with a sheet of clear plastic stuck to the front that peels off after you have attached them to the boot lid - all very clever! :)

silver roof bars are around the £400 mark, from an online skoda parts dealer

Mmmm, reckon the Mrs might notice that disappear from the joint account!

Might have to try and get a price for my black/grey ones first. I've noticed a few lower spec Octavia's without them - wonder if they can be retrofitted... if so I reckon selling them might just off set the cost of the silver ones.

Thanks for that though, I didn't realise Skoda dealers traded parts on the net, I'll get searching!

The roof bars aren't all that easy to change btw - it involves dropping the headlining which is a bit of a faff...

I lol'd at £23k for a Scout too - thats Elegance V6 Superb money!
