Oulton Park Gold Cup

Featured Replies

We had a good time at Oulton on the very slippy rally course. It was great to see Tom Jones's ex-Dealer team grp A Estelle out. We exchanged a few rides to compair Tom's Estelle and my earlier s100 (120s rep). I think the bigest difference was the LSD and rack and hydraulic hand brake in the Estelle. The engines pulled pretty similar and are a similar spec, with Tom's dyno'd at 115bhp. The 5 speed box was of no real advantage, as you were in second and a bit of third most of the way round. I dont know about the weight of the two cars, mine is approx 950kg, Tom's is more stripped out with alloy panels and alloy cage. One big difference was the amount of wheel twirling I have to do with the steering box compaired to Tom with the rack and a handbrake that works and a diff that will grip after pulling the hand brake.

Very interesting and great fun:thumbup:

I have some static photo's of Tom's car, so I will have to wait until one of the professional photographers publish some on their web pages. Mind you we sent one of them running for cover! He was stood on the grass in the middle on a sweeping left hand corner. Steve was in the car and we decided to give him some close ups! One giant cut and a Skoda on full opposite lock brushing three foot past him, sent him stumbling backward nearly falling on his ****. We found it funny and I wonder how long it will before I get banned when I go racing.
