Jacking Point Damage

Featured Replies

Mine got bent near the front at a very well known local tuning company when they were doing a recent service on their 4 point hoist :thumbdwn: I noticed as they were doing it but wasn't quick enough to stop them :(

I may bend it back and underseal it at some point but it doesn't look too bad at the moment.

Out of interest where does everyone put axle stands if you're jacking the back of the car up?

Bloody hell! I think that would have made me cry!

Looks like they used a shotgun to jack the car up! Bad times...

It did! Along with the scratched bonnet, door they'd left leaning against something until it had a coin sized patch of bare metal, two nicks in the back bumper, lacquer jetwashed off the sill and missing screws and snapped clips inside :mad:

I put mine on the rear beam.

Happened to my MK1 only on N/S/F sill which was done by Westover Skoda as they were the only people who ever touched the car and jacked it up but said they never done it as they don,t have any jacks in there garage :rofl: fooking idiots.

Have a look at page 187 in the official Owner's Manual which is downloadable via the Skoda-Auto link below.

This website and its users are great. I have a bust tyre and I tried to remove the wheel and failed (I was also v concerned that I had the wrong jacking point as there was a horrible metal fatigue noise). This site and its users have not only explained the reason for my failure (alloys fused to the steel) but also reassured me re jacking points and I am now the proud owner of a 200 page manual for my car.
