I was reading in the tech guides section, and came across a post for Octavia tips:

I was just wondering if there were any more that could be added to this thread, as that one is very old and this now being in the relevent model section?

Can anyone explain this one though...

"2. Improve the sound from your stereo 1 - disconnect the rear tweeters by pulling one of the plugs from the rear parcel shelf speakers

3. Improve the sound from your stereo 2 - remove the front speakers and cut a flap in the membrane behind"

How does removing the rear tweeter sound improve sound? How about cutting the membrane which sits behind the door speakers?

Thanks

More bass i'd imagine

The rear tweeters are right next to your ears in the door panels and tend to distort very easily. When you unplug them you can run the stereo louder without the additional piercing top end. The membrane behind the front speakers tends to flap around from the air pressure which creates a raspy noise.

Ah that's interesting, I might have to follow those ideas. Will cutting the membrane have any adverse effect?

I have an L&K and am told they have a higher output speaker system. If this is the case, surely it's useless since it still uses the same Symphony headunit thus they are under the same power as standard speakers? Can anyone shed any light?
