Cobra 4908 CAN Alarm

Anyone got one of these fitted to their Mk1 Octy?

I've just had one of the above alarms fitted to my 53 plate Elegance and I have two intermittent faults;

1. Some of the time the alarm gives a single chirp and then beeps to say that it has been activated when I unlock the car.

2. If I open the boot from the remote, some of the time the alarm triggers.

So far the installers have moved the permanent live feed to the alarm to see if that cures fault 1.

They keep telling me that the boot release button on the key will not deactivate the alarm despite the fact that the instructions say otherwise.

Today the fitter tried to tell me that the reason the alarm was not working correctly was because the car has a CAN system and I had wired the rear courtesy lights to the front one so that they come on when the doors are opened and this was upsetting it. I have already disproved this by switching off the rear lights and got fault 1 when I returned to the car and unlocked it.

Any thoughts / suggestions?

I will be back on to the installers in the morning anyway.
