Do I want Weitec Hicon GT coilovers?

Featured Replies

I have Koni FSD's at the minute but quit fancy the Weitec Hicon GT coilovers, especially since there on offer for an extra few months.

What I want to know is has anyone moved from the FSD set up to either these coilovers or any coilovers in general. What is the quality of ride like comparing them and would you recommend the change?

Thanks in advance

John

What springs are you running with your FSDs?

What makes you want to change?

I ran Koni FSD's with H&R springs that were a great set up. I now have Weitec GT coilovers.

These are great and I am so glad I made the swap. For me they give me better ride control and adjustment and as you stated a very good price at the moment.

If you search weitecs you will get lots of comments and users experience with them as I also wrote up a lengthy article.

cheers

Mark.

I'm fitting them at the mo and they look to be decent quality, and the post that Mark mentions is very good!

Thanks for the replies guys. I got Eibach Pro springs 1st; however did run the FSD with the infamous HR springs after reading things on here re the Eibach's and found the only difference between them was ride hight hence going back to the cheaper Eibach's!

The reason for the change is a combination of;

I fancy a change

I want something a bit more controllable but still fairly comfortable

Mainly; the whole set up delivered is cheaper than FSD's exc. VAT!

I've got a few weeks to dwell on it yet so I'll see what happens.

Hi

Yes the Weitec`s are on offer at the moment

In fact have a word with Jay , he has just bought a set off us , if he spends his money , it is a cracking price ;)

Very surprised you would put Eibach's on a MK 1 VRS. They are certainly not designed for the VRS and i my experience and others was a bad combination with FSD's. It was definatley not just ride height, and more with bad handling especially when pushing it.

Still if you have got on with them, glad one owner has.

You called!

I'm thinking of making the same switch as i would like something a little stiffer for track use.

As Sarah has mentioned i bought a set of Weitecs last month when Awesome had a offer to good to miss.

I'll be having a ride in a car fitted with these before i plan to fit mine as i purchased them mainly for track use(hopefully next year).

The FSD/H&R set up is great but does lack the control when pushing very hard.

Shame you are not near Portsmouth, could have had a go in mine.

Weitecs are the way to go .

Cheers but Bodge is not far away and will want his OCC when they come.

That sounds like I'm not getting my OCC untill you've had a go in the Bodge-mobile! :P

It's going to feel a bit slower than yours without a remap I'm afraid. I'll try and get some tyres on the steelies before I come, so you can see how badass it looks!

I'm sort of running out of money this month though. I heard the recession was over, so went and bought a huge TV to celebrate! Ironic much?

I'm not bothered about speed it's all about how harsh the ride is.

yes Jay you do, fitted mine this week (post to follow) and they are GOOD! more than good infact!!!!

Of course everyone has a different perspective on harsh but i dont think they are harsh, they are firm but not at all uncomfortable and are so much better than stock!

I went out with amateurstuntman last night, he is running weitecs, quaife atb, r32 front arb and steering rack and..........boy can that car handle well:thumbup::cool:

Did you still have your v2s as am suprised you are not fitting them!?

I'm glad your happy with them Luca!

I'd say go for them, too good a deal to miss!

cheers amateurstuntman, you too buddy!

Damian, they are awesome, am going to drop the front end some more today, but they have transformed the cars (quite frankly terrible) standard suspension to something really quite good. Once my new arb/tt wishbones and quickrack are on i think i will have something that can handle a bit like my mk2 at last!

Sold the V2's as i wasn't going to fit them for another year at least, but my plans with the car have now changed slightly and if all goes to plan it will be for track/weekend use only form next year.;)
