I'm right, aren't I? ;)

Yes, It drives me nuts that only half the bloody buttons work! I also want the display from the parking sensors on the Columbus display.

Any idea where it is located? I guess under the drivers side dash near the fusebox, maybe??

On the MK I Fabias and Octavias it is integrated into the dash panel. It is an interface that allows the high speed drivetrain CAN communicate with the lower speed CANs such as the convenience CAN.

I've come across error codes in the Fabia where it says that it cannot communicate with the 4 wheel drive system, as we all know there was never a production 4 wheel drive MK I Fabia, this is clearly an error. I have found that you can clear it by re-coding the Gateway to exactly the same coding, this forces the Gateway to refresh its installation list and no more 4 wheel drive error.

Speaking with my mate from Skoda (master tech) he tells me its located behind the dash panel where the clocks are. He told me to asses it you need to pop the bonnet remove the wiper motor and scuttle panel, under there you should find an access panel to the cabin side of the bulkhead, hope this helps

It can be accessed from up under the dash, it's behind the relay board. Not too easy to get to,

Nothing is ever easy at the moment it would seem! The new one should be here Tuesday so I will have a bash at it then, cheers guys.

It's only about the size of a packet of fags. When you remove the current one be sure to be familiar with the mountings as it isn't easy to get back in place.

Cheers for the heads up, I'll be back posting if I get stuck on Tuesday morning!

Hmm had a look up there today while fititng the new auto light headlight switch, looks like a bit of a dexterity test for sure!

Oh yes indeedy.

Behind the relay board? Hmm I have lowered that and I still can't find the bloody thing! This is starting to annoy me now. Any more description of where it is please?

I dropped the large relay board and the smaller thinner one above it, But I just cannot see it anywhere.

Above the relay board are 3 or 4 green, white and black plugs but they just seem like joints into the main harness, no sign of this little control unit!

Well after ripping out (amongst other things!) the clocks, wiper blades, motor and scuttle panel, the entire fusebox and relay boards and lowering the steering column I still couldnt find it.

Spoke to the 'Master Tech' who insists its above the brake pedal, I went home and looked again again and again. Still no joy.

Its just wasnt above the drivers pedals anywhere as I had removed everything. So I started ripping out the centre console, not under there either, I only found the airbag control unit.

Finally found the bugger attached to a bracket on the front of the heater box, Its in plain sight the minute you take off the Glovebox assembly. D'oh!

How much was the new unit. Where did get it from?

What a bugger to find, piece of cake to change another one though! 10 minutes tops now I now where it is!!

It was £80 from Ebay.de. I think they are around £110 ish from dealers.

At least one good thing is that all my MFSW buttons work exactly as they should with the RNS510 now!

Aww cool! I need to borrow you!! ;)

What next, Climatronic & PDC displaying on the RNS510??

PDC yes but not Clima, I always found that a little distracting on the stream so I dont miss it. PDC will have to wait until I get the belt/water pump changed though!
