Clutch Problem

Featured Replies

We seem to have a problem with our 2.0 CR17 Superb Manual.

The Clutch itself works properly. Disengages and engages cleanly, no problem with slip of Gear changes. The "biting point" seems to be at the normal place.

But the clutch pedal isn't "returning" properly. When you take your foot off the clutch - it just sits at the bighting point. if you put you foot underneath it and give it a slight pull, it will then spring back.

Basically, something is making it "stick" near the biting point.

Obviously I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow.

But anyone got any ideas or useful comments ?

This may seem a bit of a trivial answer but I had a very similar thing where the clutch did not come back up and my ex wife had the car at the time and after having it pushed back into the drive and the AA man called to have a look under the home start thing, he promptly moved the car mat which had ridden up and was interfering with the clutch peddle movement.

Like I said it may be trivial but have a look.

Thanks for the reply - but I have already checked the Mat + Carpet. There's nothing anywhere near anywhere which might cause this.

Phoned Dealer this morning.

They looked at the car this afternoon.

Diagnosis - Clutch Master Cylinder faulty.

We've got a courtesy Superb overnight - and they promised me it back tomorrow afternoon with a new master cylinder.
