Anyone replaced the DMF and/or clutch in a DSG box, I'm looking for prices.

Just got the car recently, massive discount due to "noise with gearbox", turns out to be the DMF. I'm still looking for the cheapest price I can find, I'm not made of money! It's a DSG box, and apart from some odd noises it seems to be driving and running great.

I guess I put this in at the wrong time, hope this bumps it to the top at a better time to be spotted. surely someone can say where the cheapest place to buy is? I had a quote for £287, but turns out he got it wrong, damn, so still looking.

I hope I am not wrong but you may be able to fit a singe flywheel and clutch at £230 fitted, that's all mine cost me when my DMF fecked up but mine is a manual

Your a brave man taking on a car with a dodgy DSG box, its an expensive bussiness. The clutches should be in the box for the life of the gearbox, dont know about DMF, didnt know it had them

Thankfully the box itself appears to be fine, shifts great, all working as it should. It's the same classic dmf rattle under idle as many others get, a switch of the DMF should get it running sweet as again.

Low mileage DSG boxes aren't too hard to get hold of for well under a grand either. What I am having trouble doing is finding DSG DMF's for less than the price of a second hand gearbox.

Sadly the SMF won't fit, any other experience, low priced distributors...?

According to my local Skoda dealers, they are now fitting SMF's to all of there DSG taxi customers. I think I'm correct on this, it might be worth giving Pheonix Motors in Dublin a phonecall on this and they may be able to give you the info you need, you will find their number in the Dealers section.

I've got it booked in to have it all done next week anyway, it's only money after all, but thanks, this is just the info I was looking for. If there indeed is an SMF available at a lower price for the DSG, I'll be keen to get the model number so the the garage orders it!

What is a SMF and a DMF. Also a clutch pack, are they not covered under warranty

Single mass flywheel, dual mass flywheel. A single mass one is just a lump of metal, a DMF is in two parts with springs & dampers joining them. Many cars now have DMFs. The DMF and clutch pack would be covered by warranty, but if the car's over 3 years old, the warranty has expired.

What did you pay in the end?

I've just had mine done at a cost of approx £800.
