Yeti v Peugeot 3008 - Autocar

Featured Replies

This week's Autocar will apparently have a test between the Yeti and the 3008.

I feel that even in the unlikely event that the 3008 wins, I'll be cancelling my CR170 order to buy a Peugeot....

If you stand on your head whilst reading any car survey league table such as JD Power or Driver Power, Peugeot actually come out on top :D Never can understand why there are so many Pugs on the road, owners must be masochists!

Much prefer Skoda to the Pug....Having said that our 205 1.9 GTi of the late 80's was superb...

Funny how things change including driving habits...

Just had a quick browse of this in Tescos. It was a test of the Quashqai, 3008 and the Yeti.

The Qaushqai came in last, 3008 was second and the Yeti won it. They did say it was a very narrow victory over the 3008.

Which Tesco was that? I've just done the same. :DYeti got it by a short head!

Interesting comment that Yeti had the best 4x4 abilities and they did an inset article of Yeti v Freelander on 4x4 ability (except I didn't get to read this bit).

Overall good to see more good press on Yeti.:)

Redditch. They certainly seemed to like it. One of the things they seemed to mark it down for comapred to the 3008 was boot space and that is something that could be an issue for me. But then if I don't get a Yeti I'll probably have another Octavia estate anyway.

West Hampstead, NW London. I'm considering Yeti as a replacement perhaps next year for my Octavia hatch, for which I only occasionally use the full boot space but the flexibility of removing seats in Yeti will be more than adequate for my needs.

Anyway I don't believe that anyone ever buys a 4x4/SUV type vehicle for ultimate load carrying.

Much better reveiw given by Autocar, interesting selection of test cars the Nissan and Pug were both 2WD petrol against a Yeti 4x4 diesel.

The only real negative that I picked up upon being the price of the Yeti in 4x4 and high level trim configuration. I get the impression they would go for the 1.2TSI although they did not say as much.

Would tend to agree with that, yes you get a lot of Yeti for the money but there is no longer a competitive saving against other manufactures with the exception maybe of Tiguan.

The previously mentioned comparison was with a Discovery 4 and how the Yeti stacks up on paper as an off-roader. Compaping ground clearance, approach angle and ascent angle.

Obviously the LR is still 'king of the hill' but the old snow monsters not bad either.:)

Maybe Autocar had wanted to test the 1.2TSI 2WD Yeti but one was not available; certainly from my understanding of market segments the 3008 and Quashqai are much more MPV/SUV than Yeti which is SUV/4x4.

Of course the acid test will be how fast the new snow monster can fly out of the showroom (if that's possible ) although AFAIK Skoda have set very modest targets for sales and are not out for market share; which I'm sure Nissan and Peugeot are. :D

'Snowmonster' Like it :D

The 1.2TSI doesn't go into production until this month, maybe it would have been a clearer victory for the Yeti against this oposition?

The Autocar article did also say something along the lines of that the 3008 was the best new Peugeot for years, so they obviously rated that high too.

So that's sorted then - 'Snowmonster' it is....

hi all,

I am not living in the uk, though it is not possible for me to get a copy of the autocar magazine.

i am currently looking for a new car and there are currently 2 "left-overs", namely the 3008 and the yeti.

Therefor I am curious about this test.

Any chance that someone could scan the test and post it here?

Thanks in advance

Just checked Autocar's website and the Road Test is not yet on it (maybe as it is in the current magazine). However, have a look here;- Skoda Yeti car reviews & latest news from the experts at Autocar and here; -http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/stillatthewheel/archive/2009/09/10/yeti-v-nessie.aspx

for some useful information.

Any chance that someone could scan the test and post it here.

Sorry; can't do that; it will be a breach of copyright.:(

thanks bahnstormer.

already thought it was a copyright violation, but... never asked = never answered.. ;-)

maybe the test will be visible next month...

thanks for the links. very useful.

It'll be on the site in a bit :)
