Seen any famous cars on the road? ( ST 1 )

Featured Replies

Thought I'd start a thread to see who else had seen any famous cars out and about, not in shows / musuems.

I got to sit in this one recently and even managed to park it for the owner whilst he was abseiling off kensington roof gardens (!)

Not a famous car per se, but I saw a new Bentley Brooklands driving through Glasgow today, quite an imposing beast. They're very rare it seems...

Also seen an ex-Colin McRae Subaru Legacy in Rothmans livery getting very, very sideways at my local go-kart track of all places! There's probably more but I can't really think just now.

I was quite impressed when I saw an ex - Ari Vatenan Rothmans Mk2 Escort leave the fattest set of black lines I've ever seen, away from the start of one of the Sunseeker Rally stages I was marshalling on.

I actually purchased Martin Brundles ex Snetterton 24 hour Celica GT back in the early 80's, and I've still got the hp agreement witness signed by the very man himself at his dads Toyota garage in Kings Lynne.

Wish I'd kept the car now.:rotz:

"Big Rumbly" - Ken Wood's Rally SD1.

Jimmy Fleming's v8 engined Toyota Starlet (RWD Starlet, round headlights).

Tyrell 005, Jackie Stewart's championship winning car.

Look, I'll be here for the next month if I try and get them all.

When I was in school i worked in a country garage, filling cars up, checking oil and air, that sort of thing.

I filled up Nigel Mansell's Ferrari at that garage! Unfortuantely, it was a couple of years after he stoppped driving for them, and the car was no longer owned by him - but it still had his name where the garage name normally goes on the registration plates!

I rember it being a real bugger to fill, as well. Had a rubber flap thing around the filler neck that you had to pull down to protect the paint from the inevitable spillage.

I've followed Jason Plato's 911 - P1ATO - though I couldn't see if it was him driving
