Hi All

Featured Replies

I've been lurking since I bought car in may. Now I have a problem I have decided to introduce myself. My Octavia Ambient as the autolocking set. Recently however it keeps locking and unlocking as I travel. Can't find any obvious reason but the noise alone is annoying. My local dealer recently closed and my nearest dealer appears to be in Dartford and I don't want travel that far if there is an easy solution to the problem.

As you may have gathered I'm new to this Forum business and I hope I am going about this in the right way.

Many Thanks in advance

welcome

Hiya.

I can't help directly, but auto-locking going on and off at a set speed is "as designed" behaviour for some makes.

Thanks Ken but this is definitely a problem as it happens at all different speeds and conditions. I was just wondering if there was a quick way to reset it.

Your auto-lockikng should only do thw following things..

1) Each journey, when you first exceed approximately 10mph, it will lock all the doors and the boot.

2) When you stop, turn the ignition off and take the key out it will unlock them all

If it is doing anything else then it is a fault of some description. So far as I am aware you cannot set them to unlock each time you drop below a certain speed - it only operates in the circs detailed above.

It might help if you turn the autolocking off via the maxidot computer, drive it without the autolock set, then turn it back on next time you drive. If it still misbehaves then get it checked.

Thanks Soapy, looks like a garage job. I don't have a maxidot optionI'm afraid.

Ah, then all changes have to be made through the mystical world of VAGCOM (which is a complete and utter mystery to me, but others will be able to bore you into submission about it- err, I mean, help you!)

Anyway, enjoy the car and the site.
