Coded the EGR valve tonight

Featured Replies

got a friend to change the EGR values (using Vagcom) tonight on my Fabia (2002 TDI 1.9 100bhp).

Went from the stock value of 250mg/s, to the newer value of 330mg/s

Will this alter anything performance wise of the car?

Not sure if i'm reading those figures right, but looks like you have increased EGR flow? It's normal to turn EGR down to reduce soot level in intake manifold side of things.

Anyways, EGR reduces combustion temperatures at low load throttle, which reduces NOx levels in exhaust. It may also reduce engine hesitation, if vehicle was suffering from that.

In theory, increased combustion temps at low load, could increase engine wear slightly. However it would take some time to happen, if at all.

Increasing EGR flow, will make the car slow and sluggish at light loads.

I'm confused by the figures too, but reading all the forums, I've done it correct.

The car is at 250mg/s at OEM, this is then supposedly increased to somewhere around 370mg/s.

I changed my car to 330-340mg/s,

which reduced the EGR % from 80% to 60%

Just wondered if any others on here have done this, and if it made any difference to the running of the car

That's correct.

Effectively, you're now drawing more air through the MAF sensor instead of recycling the exhaust gasses. This is why the value increases, basicaly just more clean air being drawn in past the maf.
