Alloys for Furby VRS

Featured Replies

Who here has the biggest wheels on their Furby VRS? Was looking at my car from a distance yesterday, and it looks very high, there's loads of room to drop the car a bit/ put bigger wheels on it (not for a while tho). Do all alloys from VAG-Group cars fit the VRS ok? Also, where and how much would lowering springs cost? I love the wheels that are on the car, but the space under the arches is verging on the ridiculous, and the more I look the more I notice it!

I think the biggest so far has been 18's there is a picture on here somewhere. As long as they have the correct fitment then yes they will fit. As for the other question I hae no idea.

Not sure how this compares price-wise, but the springs are available here.... and you apparently get a 15% discount for buying online....

The JBS demonstrator has 18" wheels on it, but needed arch mods to fit them.

This is my car with 17"s and Eibach vRS springs... they only lower the car by 25mm as the engine hangs quite low on these cars and you will risk ripping the sump off if you go any lower. :)

17's look perfect, they don't look like they are squeezed on to the car, did anyone else feel that their car looked a bit high when they first purchased it? Maybe once the springs settle in a bit it 'll be lower, or maybe it's my mind playing tricks on me

No i agree it does look a little too high, ive just been to check after reading this thread!

I agree with you the standard Furby ride height leaves far too big gaps between tyres and arches. Looks more like a 4x4! See this thread on springs for lowering:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t12143-info-on-eibach-springs-for-the-fabia.html

If cash is an issue, I suggest you lower first, then see if you still think bigger wheels are needed. I'm happy with my standard 16" alloys which fill the arches now I've lowered. Bigger wheels means the discs look puny so then it's upgrade to bigger discs and ... where do you stop? The only limit is your credit card!

Do you have any pics of the vRS lowerd on standard rims, i would be interested to see the difference

I like the alloys on the JBS Furby, are they off a Golf? I could probably live with the gaps above the arches, as I am so pleased with the rest of the car in terms of looks, performance etc. that it cancels that niggle out. Any websites anywhere with a Flash viewer for trying different wheels on your car? I remeber trying one somewhere but can't remeber where....

That looks ace, i shall be investing :) liking the dark tints against the yellow aswell

Check out the arch clearance on this Fabia. Must be one of those new Ambiente models...

I so would like that body kit!!!!

wouldn't be worrying about arch clearance if the rest of the car looked as sorted as that!

With all due respect' date=' its not that bad. And 25mm, while it will be an improvement, will still look like a 4x4 if it did beforehand :P

However, my thinking is that it is the height it is for a reason, and there are plenty of situations (like parking in front of high kerbs, or going over some speed bumps) where I [u']really[/u] wouldnt want it to be any lower than it is.

Each to his own mate, but IMHO the ride height of the car as standard really spoils it. Looks like it's on stilts. Lowered car looks much more 'planted' and 'meaner' even. And I've not yet bottomed on even the highest speed bumps.

lol, paul and his anti-modding stance as usual ;)

Yup, but I'm utterly shocked to see the Skoda Fabia WRC come with spinner wheelhubs :thumbdwn:

Saw a Renault Senic with pimp tints and spinners last night - nearly crashed laughing.

I expect the height is to allow for the fitting of snow chains or something. In which case why not offer a 'normal' and 'sport' suspension option like VW do with the Golf?

Just read the glowing report in Autocar on the Furby vRS and what were the two things about the car they'd change if they could? You've guessed it, tighten up the soft handling and shorten the springs to cure the aesthetic shortcoming of the gap between wheelarch and tyre. I rest my case...
