i understand how the regeneration system works, but my query is that some dpf systems are active some passive, meaning some are cleaned automatically by the cars ecu and some are cleaned when you are travelling over 37mph over 9 mins.

my problem is if you use your car for stop and start urban usage, and getting a 1.4tsi petrol version is not an option

would appreciate any help

thanks

Skoda's DPF system is of the latter variety i.e. you need to drive steadily above 37 mph periodically for regeneration. If you download an Octy brochure from the Skoda UK site, there is a glossary of technical terms near the back which defines the term DPF and how it works. They specifically state that DPF-eqipped cars may not be suitable for people who primarily do stop-start and/or urban driving.
